Syed Adney Syed Hussein (born on November 29, 1986) from Subang Jaya, Selangor is an English-born Malaysian footballer who plays for Sabah FA, on loan from Kelantan. He has been capped by the Malaysian national team and also has played for the Malaysian Pre-Olympic squad.
He has openly expressed his wish to play in the English football league, and had trials with Middlesbrough FC and Darlington FC.[1]
Syed Adney made his Malaysia debut against Bahrain in a 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifier. He had also famously saved a penalty, a corner kick, a goal kick and a backpass against Singapore in the third game of the group stages in the 2007 SEA Games, where Malaysia needed a win to go through.
In 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup, Syed Adney took Mohd Helmi Eliza Elias's place to play the last group game which Malaysia lost 3-0 to Thailand, with Adney saving the embarrassment of conceding five goals. In that same game, he famously manage to clear the ball to the halfway line. Up to this day, the clearance is widely regarded as the "Clearance of the Millennium" in Malaysian Football History. In November 2010 Syed was loaned to the Malaysian team, Sabah FA after they were promoted to the 2011 Super league.
